Retro Birthday

Hey everyone

Yesterday was my youngest son’s birthday (my baby). He turned 13. It’s like a slap in the face, 13, because once they’re teenagers they’re not your baby anymore. Unfortunately, Noah has been sick all week and so we didn’t do an awful lot. He got Lego for his birthday so he was quite happy to sit and put it all together.

Here’s the card I made for him, and it turned out really well. I got the idea for it from Pinterest, my source for all crafty things.

Noah 13th

I love the colours in this card. They’re not particularly boy colours but Noah loved them. I used the retired Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper as inspiration and added 3 strips of varying lengths and widths on one side of the card. The tails of the stars were made using the Work of Art stamp set. I know I’ve said it before, but this set is so versatile and I’m so glad I decided to buy it.

The colours are Tangerine Tango, Pool Party and So Saffron and they look just great together.

The greeting is from the Hip Notes set and fit just perfectly at the bottom of the card.

This card came together so easily and the most important thing is that Noah loved it.

Gift Bag

Hey everyone

It’s my sister-in-law’s birthday tomorrow. I bought her something lovely but instead of wrapping it up in boring paper I decided to make a gift bag.

Gift BagI am a terrible hoarder of Designer Series Paper. I love it so much and it’s always so beautiful that I just can’t bring myself to use it. I know, I’m crazy. For this project I decided to use up some of the paper I had lying around my craft cupboard.

This particular paper is called Twitterpated and it was from back in 2012 (told you I was a shocking hoarder).  I think it looks great.

I got the instructions for this bag from Pootles Papercrafts. If you haven’t visited Pootles before you should definitely go and have a look. She has so many great things on her blog.

I made the flower using the Spiral Flower Die and my Big Shot. Once I’d made the flower I spritzed it with some water and scrunched it up a bit. This helps to break down the fibres in the paper and gives it a bit more of a vintage look. I added a tag and it was all finished.

I hope you like it.

Happy Stamping.

Retro Bon Voyage

Hey Everyone

I am absolutely loving the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper from the new Occasions Catalogue. I find the colours really soothing I think. This morning the crafting bug hit me and I was inspired to make this card and the matching envelope.

Retro Bon Voyage

I love the way this all came together, which is what we all love about Stampin’ Up!. I used the Retro Fresh Washi Tape and the Essentials Wooden Elements as well. I love the Wooden Elements, they are so stinking cute and so easy to use. You just stamp directly onto them, or you could stick some Designer Series Paper on them or even add some glitter. The greeting is from the Really Good Greetings stamp set and I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch. The banner underneath the greeting was cut out using the Banner Framelit Dies and the Big Shot. The envelope was made using the amazing Envelope Punch Board – I love that thing.

All the supplies I used are listed below and they can all be purchased from my online store.

Crazy Mixed Up Love

Hey everyone

It was cool enough today for me to sit down at my craft desk and create a little something. Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us and while it’s not something I celebrate, I couldn’t resist using the Crazy Mixed Up Love stamp set. I love that it’s a bit corny.

Teacher Thank You

Hey everyone

The school year is almost over, only 1 day left in our house. It’s been a busy week as my youngest is finishing primary school so we have had a lot of extra “graduation” activities on. I have had mixed emotions most of the week. On one hand I’m happy and excited to see my son move to this new stage in his life and to marvel at the young man he has become. On the other hand, I’m sad and teary that my baby is grown up and that his childhood is behind him. It only seems a short time ago that it was his first day of school.

This has been a big year for Noah as well. He and his brother were both diagnosed with ADHD and put on medication. The change, particularly in Noah has been astounding and I couldn’t be prouder of him. He worked hard this year to improve and he has exceeded expectations. He received the highest available behaviour award and a class prize at the Presentation Assembly. His teacher has been a major part of that achievement, working with Noah and helping him to manage his condition.

I made this card for the teacher today. It really doesn’t seem enough of a thank you for all he has done.

Duker

I wanted something fun for this card so I decided to use the Yippee-Skippee! stamp set which has some great cheeky sayings on it. I then paired it with the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper for a bit of a “school” feel with all the numbers. I cut the sentiment out using the Chalk Talk Framelits and used one for the Bermuda Bay piece of card stock under the sentiment. I think it turned out really well.

Remember you can get everything you need to make this card from my online store.

Supplies

Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Gumball Green, Whisper White

Christmas Card

Hey everyone

I finally got my Christmas cards done today so I thought I’d share one of them with you.

Single Chrissy 2013

I really love the chalkboard look and I think this stamp set, O Holy Night, really lends itself to the style because of all the different fonts. The last time I tried the chalkboard technique I used Whisper White craft ink, but this time I used white embossing powder and I think it turned out much better.

I hope you like the card. All supplies for this card are available from my online store.

Supplies

Stamp Set: O Holy Night
Cardstock
: Crumb Cake, Basic Black
Designer Series Paper: Season of Style
Ink: Versamark
Punches: Corner Rounder
Accessories: White Embossing Powder, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon, Glue Dots, SNAIL, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Thinking of Christmas

Hey everyone

I said in my post yesterday that I finally got my craft on, so here’s the other card I made yesterday. It’s a Christmas card. Making Christmas cards in September goes against the grain for me. I don’t even like thinking about Christmas until the end of November, but I ordered the gorgeous O Holy Night stamp set from the new Holiday Catalogue and I couldn’t wait to use it.

O Holy NightI used some non-traditional Christmas colours but colours that are very on-trend at the moment. The card base is Smoky Slate and I’ve paired it with Coastal Cabana and Whisper White. The Designer Series Paper is Eastern Elegance, which isn’t a Christmas paper but works really well here, I think. I used the Chalk Talk Thin Lits and my Big Shot to cut the Coastal Cabana card stock.

I love the words on this stamp set. It really reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas, which sometimes gets lost in the excitement of the season.

Everything you need to make this card you can buy from my online store. It’s open 24/7.
